The Parsec Awards

Posted by Rich Sigfrit at October 30th, 2006

And now, here is a recording of the show. The actual, full length, Parsec Awards. You’ve heard everything before the Parsecs, now hear the awards show itself. I’ll be presenting more interviews after the live show.

Episode 06 - Michael A Stackpole

Posted by Rich Sigfrit at October 23rd, 2006

Michael A Stackpole is clearly the most highly respected and accomplished nominee. He is an acclaimed author, creating many of the most beloved characters in Star Wars EU. He has gone on to create The SciFi Podcast Network (tsfpn.com), and publishes The Secrets, a podcast dedicated to helping writers hone their craft.

Episode 05 - Patrick McLean

Posted by Rich Sigfrit at October 16th, 2006

When I recorded this interview, no one had any idea how many times this man was a finalist in 47 different categories.

But then again, maybe he did know how many he would go on to become the first person to hold more than one Parsec. He did try to discredit the award, showing us that it meant little to him. This of course is only speculation.

Or is it? He will appear again later on in this series.

Episode 04 - JC Hutchins and Tee Morris

Posted by Rich Sigfrit at October 13th, 2006

JC Hutchins (7th Son), although larger than life, is a very humble man. Instead of taking credit, or having a large ego and talking about himself, he’d rather drop the names of many weblebrities. Well, that was until Tee showed up.

In a surprise move, the normally sedate Tee Morris cuts into the discussion, and their hatred for each other flares, dimming the lights and frightening a gaggle of small children that were to be used in the Hobbit tossing segment of the Awards Show. But in an attempt to keep things civil, they begin to mock each other. The tension could have been cut with a knife.

Episode 03 - Steve Eley

Posted by Rich Sigfrit at October 9th, 2006

Steve Eley, a huge fan of Adam Curry, has set the podosphere ablaze with his business model by paying contributors. The stories presented on the Escape Pod show the type of creativity little seen online. This show was so popular, it spawned a sister show, dealing with Horror, unlike Escape Pod’s Science Fiction theme. You can find Pseudopod by going to pseudopod.org

Episode 02 - Stephen Euin Cobb and Tee Morris

Posted by Rich Sigfrit at October 6th, 2006

Stephen Euin Cobb - The Future and You and Tee Morris - Legacy of Morevi and The Survival Guide to Writing Fantasy are next up to bat. Everyone is still very political, which most people were surprised by with Cobb. He’s been known to go off at the handle if someone doesn’t know who he is. I have, from a trusted source, the he once killed a hobo with a ball-peen hammer. This hasn’te been proven yet, but this source has never let me down.
Stephen thanks myself and Tee Morris for his possible win (he knew. I don’t know how he knew, but by God, he knew he’d win). Maybe Tee and I shouldn’t have encouraged him so much. But his bloodlust was satiated that night, with no loss of life.

Episode 01 - Kevin Batchelder and Les Howard

Posted by Rich Sigfrit at October 3rd, 2006

To get the ball rolling, I hit up the great guys from The Signal, and the ScapeCast. Although they took the high road at first, it took little prompting before violence towards other possible winners was optioned.

In other news, we’ve already had an attack on our credibility. Quoted from one podcaster:

“As a Parsec Award winner, I formally protest this whole project. And any comments I may’ve made to the contrary were in the moment and should be disregarded.”

This comes as no surprise, since his comments were recorded before he was awarded the Parsec.
