This is sad news for me and the film world.  I remember him best from that crappy TimeCop movie, but mostly from his excellent portrayal of himself in Heat Vision and Jack.  If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s a failed pilot directed by Ben Stiller and stars Ron Silver, Jack Black, Owen Wilson, and Christine Taylor. It was written by those two glorious geniuses Rob Shrab and Dan Harmon.  Go torrent it.  Any description I can give won’t do it justice.  And it’s ok to torrent it since it isn’t available any other way.

Ron Silver died in his sleep after battling with esophageal cancer.  He will be missed.

Anyone who knows me has heard me gush about the MiddleMan.  It was one of the few shows that I made sure to follow, even when I didn’t have time for it.  We always joked that the show was so good, if it had been on FOX, it would’ve been cancelled.  Sadly, those jerks at ABC Family did just that.  Perhaps the show was another victim of the writer’s strike, or just no promotion (most likely), but one of the most innovative, funny shows was lost last year.

But there is good news, on the MiddleBlog, Javi dropped this exciting news: The MiddleMan DVD is coming in July of 2009!  This is one show where I will be buying two copies of the DVD.  One for keepsies, another to loan.  Because this badboy will be passed around like Andy Dick at a Village People reunion special.

I’ve been looking forward to this movie since reading Survival Guide to Zombies, a brilliant book that equips you for the inevitable Zombie Appocylpse. World War Z is the “real” account of what happened during the above mentioned catastrophe.  I haven’t read the book the flick is based on, but I have listened to the audio book and I can’t imagine the book is better.  The voice acting is great, as it’s “from those that suffered and experienced” this terrible happening.  I remember being very excited hearing that the book was optioned for film by Brad Pitt’s production company before WWZ had even hit the bookshelves.  I don’t know how they are going to be doing the movie, but I can only imagine a Ken Burs/History channel style wouldn’t be nearly as well received in the theaters as a war movie version would.  Either way it’s made, it is one hell of a story.  One I am very much looking forward to.

It looks like it’s been a year since this site has seen any activity.  I’m sorry guys.  I’m going to try to keep at least the blog side rocking until the relaunch of the show.  I’d like to say that it’s going to be the same old show with Lee and Sam, but sadly, we seem to have a bunch of scheduling conflicts.  I love those two crazy kids to death, and want to remind you guys to check out their sites:  The lovely Sam (randomassembly.com) and the slightly less lovely Lee (betteryouthanme.net).  I can’t wait to run into them at a con again (the live all the way in Indiana).

I’m hoping for new releases to come in about 3 months, maybe sooner.  Hopefully.  And definately before William Shatner makes TJ Hooker: The Movie.

We sat down with acclaimed Star Wars fan Jeff Himes just before SW’s 30th anniversary.  We did we wait to release it now?  Because we’re still waiting for the prequels to be good.  We kinda gave up waiting, so here’s the ep.
